Built for the African households
We started Joumla because buying food staples in shouldn't be a hassle — or this expensive.
Simplified shopping for essential food staples
Nairobi's wholesale markets have always offered the best prices — accessing the products is time consuming with long queues, and sometimes long distances to Eastleigh. the other alternative is for households buy from supermarkets and dukas in retail prices, and pay more.
Joumla changes that. We aggregate demand from hundreds of households, price at wholesale, and pass the savings directly to you. You get the same prices as buying from wholesalers — delivered to your door, ordered in two minutes on WhatsApp.
Our values
Fairness first
Wholesale products shouldn't be a privilege. Every household deserves access to fairly priced food staples.
Radical simplicity
No app. No account. No decision fatigue. We believe ordering groceries should take two minutes, not twenty.
Reliability over hype
We'd rather deliver the same basket on time, every week, than promise novelty and disappoint.
Rooted in Africa
We source locally, hire locally, and build for the specific realities of African households — not a generic African market.
From an idea to recurring service delivery
Joumla started in 2025 when our founder, Mansa Ydris noticed that every household in his estate was individually making the same trip to the market every day — each paying retail prices, each spending 2–3 hours they didn't have to commute.
The solution was obvious: pool the orders, price at affordable wholesale rates & deliver together via electric Tuktuk's. What started as a simple farfetched idea is now growning into a recurring routine service delivering to hundreds of households across Nairobi.
We're still early. But we're building something that we believe every Nairobi household will rely on — a predictable, affordable way to stock your kitchen, every week.
